The research group on Information Technologies for Education and Knowledge (TIFYC) is integrated within the Department of Computer Science of the University of Alcalá. It was formed in 2006, but even before its members have been working in related developement and activities. Since then, under the direction of Dr. Gutiérrez de Mesa, their work has increased in scope and intensity.


The group currently has a total of 13 researchers with varying degrees of experience. They participate in performing various tasks of teaching and research that range from the projects to the organization and management of various masters programs and studies from the University of Alcalá. Their work in recent years has been rewarded with the award of seven projects in competitive public calls for a total of € 959,025 as well as more than 20 research contracts with various companies and institutions. These along with other research projects have resulted in over 40 scientific outreach in recent years, including impact journals and conferences. With regard to teaching and it's organization, the group is responsible for the elaboration of four oficial master programs and a variety of other studies programs summing 10 in recent years. All these programs have been developed in the field of information technology and communications and as a result has trained more than 800 students during this period. All group members also participate in a teaching activities as well.
