Navigator: Locally Built Providers

Use this page to create local database providers (containing forms, reports, charts, and so on.) and Web providers on the local middle tier and to browse and manage existing local providers. Only the local providers you are authorized to see and the actions you are authorized to perform are displayed.

Field Description
Create New... Click the appropriate link to create a Web Provider or Database Provider.
Find Enter a search string in the Find field, and click Go to locate a particular provider object.
Path Displays your current location within the Navigator. The path for the current page is: Providers > Locally Built Providers.
Type Displays the type of the provider object: Web Provider, Database Provider, or Shared Components.

Displays the name of the provider. Click to list the portlets owned by a provider.

You can also click Shared Components in this list to display a list of shared component types (colors, fonts, images, and so on).



  • Edit to edit the properties of a database provider.
  • Edit Registration to edit the registration properties of a Web provider.
  • Edit Definition to edit the properties of a Web provider.
  • Refresh to refresh a Web provider.
  • Delete to delete a provider. Deleting a provider deletes all the portlets in that provider.
  • Grant Access to grant access to a provider or shared components.
  • Export to add a database provider or shared components to a new or existing transport set for export.

Note: You can only see the actions that you are authorized to perform. If you do not see a particular action listed, you do not have the privileges to perform that action.

Creator Displays the database schema that maps to the provider.
Last Modified Displays the date on which the provider was last edited.
